Deborra-Lee Furness: Hugh Jackman's Wife Adopted Two Children After Miscarriages

Deborra-Lee Furness is an Australian actress and producer best known for her role in the 1988 film Shame for which she received Best Actor Awards from Golden Space Needle and Film Critics Circle of Australia. She has been married to renowned actor Hugh Jackman who portrayed Logan/ Wolverine in the X-Men film series. Furness has suffered two miscarriages after which she adopted two children.

Mother Fay Duncan Received Order of Australia Medal

Deborra-Lee Furness was born November 30, 1955, in Annandale, Sydney, Australia. and was raised in Melbourne, Victoria.

Her mother Fay Duncan was a Member of the Order of Australia who helped establish the Bone Marrow Donor Institute, later named Fight Cancer Foundation. She died at the age of 81 in August 2016 after a long illness. The name of Furness' father is unknown but her step-father is Graham Duncan.

Furness learned acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City, graduating in 1982.

Received Best Actor Awards For Shame

Deborra-Lee Furness started her acting career by performing on a stage in New York. She portrayed Kathleen the wife of Cole Gioberti played by Billy Moses on the television series Falcon Crest.

In 1988, Furness played the role of Asta Cadell in the drama film Shame for which received two Best Actor Awards.

She has since appeared in numerous television shows Halifax f.p., The Flying Doctors and Stark. In 1995, she appeared as Dolores Kennedy in the film Angel Baby alongside Jacqueline McKenzie and John Lynch. She has also appeared in the television series Fire, starring Andy Anderson and Wayne Pygram, from 1995 to 1996.

Married to Husband Hugh Jackman

In 1995, Deborra-Lee Furness played the title role in the television series Correlli where she fell in love with her future husband, Hugh Jackman.

The couple got married in a lavish wedding ceremony on April 11, 1996, in Toorak, Victoria, Melbourne.

Adopted Children After Suffering Miscarriage

Deborra-Lee Furness has become pregnant twice in her life but at both times, she suffered miscarriages. She then decided to adopt children.

She has adopted two children son Oscar Maximilian Jackman, born in 2000, and daughter Ava Eliot Jackman, born in 2005.
