Elin Zetterstrand walked down the aisle with her then-husband, Markus Alexej Persson, on August 13, 2011. Markus announced that they tied the knot in a private wedding ceremony. Markus Persson is a Swedish video game programmer and designer. He created the Mojang in late 2010 with Carl Manneh and Jakob Porser. Persson is the creator of the sandbox video game Minecraft. In December 2014, Persson bought a mansion in Trousdale Estates, Beverly Hills, California, worth $70 million.

The former couple welcomed their only child named Minna Almina Zelda Zetterstrand in 2012. 

As a newly wedded couple, Elin and Persson were doing great initially; however, thing quickly turned around. The duo began to feel uneasiness to cope under the same roof, so they filed for divorce in July 2012, separated on August 15, 2012, and their divorce was finalized in March 2013. Regarding their divorce settlement, Marcus pays his ex-wife the amount of $5300 each month for his daughter.
