American news reporter and award-winning TV news anchor, Jane McGarry has had a long and successful career in the industry with several awards to her name.
After working for 3 decades on North Texas TV, the anchorwoman stepped down from Channel 5’s KXAS-TV in 2012 owing to her arrest in a drunk-driving case.
She joined Channel 5 in 1982 and years later, she was already an appreciated anchor in the same station.
Born in October of 1970, McGarry’s career in broadcast started quite early on when she was five years old. She made Bunny Bread commercials at her father’s radio station. She eventually took over the company and managed it.
A bright mind from the beginning, she had interviewed famous journalists like Barbara Walters, Walter Cronkite, and Jane Pauley, well ahead of her graduation from the Southern Illinois University.
With a height of 5ft 9inches, her favorite hobbies include cooking, home decor, gardening. She enjoys reading books and traveling in her spare time. Her favorite outdoor activities include golf, tennis, and skiing.
She has been felicitated and celebrated for her outstanding works numerous times including the ‘Gracie’ Award in 2006 by the American Women in Radio and Television.
She also won the organization’s 'Personality of the Year’ Awards, a staggering 4 times. To add to that, she was also awarded 'Edward R. Murrow' Award for broadcast journalism and the Lone Star Emmy Award for ‘Best Newscast in Texas’.
Not much is in the public domain about her personal life except that she had a husband named Kevin and a son in his late twenties, Michael whom she loves dearly.
According to the news anchor’s facebook post, Kevin and Mcgarry divorced but he still sends her flowers on mother’s day because she is the mother of his child.
The ‘Good Morning Texas’ show host is also the founder of JaneMcGarry Media, a company that provides national media training and on-camera coaching services.
She is also the founder of realjane.net, mostly a lifestyle website about wellness, travel, beauty, and food.
Combining her income from various sources, her current net worth is estimated to be between $100,000 and $1 million.
After taking up the hosting for ‘Good Morning Texas’ in 2015, Jane moved houses from Fort Worth to Dallas. She bought an imperial house in Preston Hollow, designed by the famous George Dahl.
The interior of the house was done by McGarry’s favorite Ken Blasingame, who also did the interior of their previous home. He is also famous for interior designing former President George W. Bush and first lady Laura Bush’s lavish homes.
They met in the early 1990s in Blasingame’s namesake store on Camp Bowie Boulevard in Fort Worth.
Besides owning the famous white Porche, in which the news anchor was found drunk driving, she also owns a luxurious Lexus SUV.
As a media-personality, Mcgarry realizes the importance of being active on social media in this day and age.
