Benjamin Hall was born on 23 July 1982, in London, the United Kingdom. He was raised by his parents in London. The name of his father is Roderick Hall while the name of his mother has not been disclosed.

During the Russian-Ukraine on 14 March 2022, Benjamin Hall was injured while assignment reporting the Russian invasion of Ukraine in Kyiv. He was wounded in the legs as his vehicle was attacked.

On the same day, one Irish journalist Pierre Zakrzewski, 55, and one Ukrainian journalist Oleksandra Kuvshinova, 24, were killed in the attack. Just a day earlier, another American journalist Brent Renaud was killed as he was covering the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Benjamin Hall is a married man. He has been in a marital relationship with his wife Alicia Meller who works for the Australian fashion and shoe brand 'Senso' that was founded by her parents. She has two sisters, one of who is a designer for Senso.
