The journalist kicked off her career in the medical field while doing her graduation. After completing her graduation, she joined WMGC-TV, Birmingham, New York as an anchor and worked there from 1994-95. 

Looking at her strong energy and hard work, she was hired by WROC-8 in Rochester, New York as a reporter. 

In the year 1997, Hepp left WROC-8 and joined NBC-owned company, WVIT-TV in New Britain, Connecticut as a reporter and worked there until 2002. Furthermore, Karen has served at WCAU-TV as a reporter, WNBC-TV and WNYW-TV as an anchor.
