An American family gave birth to an American actor, Louis Cameron Gossett Jr. on  27th May 1936 in Brooklyn, New York, the United States. He is the child of Louis Gossett Sr., a porter, and Hellen Rebecca, a nurse.

Regarding his married life, he was first married to Hattie Glascoe in 1967 and their marriage continued until 1968. After that, he tied the knot with Christina Mangosing on 21st August 1973. The former couple welcomed a son named Satie in 1974. 

Sadly, their marriage ended in 1975. 

Later, he exchanged the vows with his third wife, Star Search Champion Cyndi James-Reese on 25th December 1987. They adopted a baby named Sharron in 1977. Unfortunately, they decided to separate and divorced in 1992.
