Shapiro was born in 1988 in Herzliya, Israel, but after migrating at age of 11 she was raised in Sacramento, California. She currently lives in Los Angeles, California with her husband and two children.

Shapiro completed her undergraduate degree in psychobiology from Los Angeles, University of California. Then she attended the David Geffen School of Medicine and graduated with her master's degree in Behavioral Neuroscience. While in UCLA she was even part of an Acapella group.

In 2014 after 6 years of marriage, Mor Shapiro gave birth to her first baby girl, she was named Leeya Eliana. Leeya Eliana is a name of Latin and Hebrew origin, Leeya means I'm the Lord's whereas Eliana means My God has answered me. 

 And in 2016 they welcomed their 2nd baby boy whose name hasn't been revealed yet.

Story of her firstborn 

In 2015 Leeya had to undergo open-heart surgery because she had an atrial septal defect (ASD). After Mor gave birth to their first child Ben wrote an open letter where he mentioned how proud he is of her wife that she endured the 26 hours of labor and also expressed his prayers for his daughter.
