Reneé Rapp was born on January 10, 2000, in Huntersville, North Carolina, the United States, to father Charlie Rapp and mother Denise Rapp. She is the first child of her parents. She was raised along with her younger brother Charles Rapp. Rapp posted a throwback photo with her mom on Instagram on Mother's Day 2019.

Rapp studied at Hopewell High School in Huntersville, North Carolina for three years, and while in the high school, she used to perform in the theater program. She then attended the Northwest School of the Arts.

Won Best Actress Award and Jimmy Award

In 2017, Reneé Rapp portrayed Sandra in the high school production of Big Fish for which she received the Best Actress Award at the Blumey Awards 2018. In the same year, she won a Jimmy Award for Best Performance by an Actress.

Rapp was then cast in Theatre Charlotte's production of Spring Awakening in 2018. She played the role of Wendla in the production. Later on January 12, 2019, Rapp sang "They Just Keep Moving the Line" at BroadwayCon's Star to Be event. In June 2019, she played the role of Regina George in the Broadway musical drama, Mean Girls. She has also performed at The Green Room 42.

On October 14, 2020, Rapp was cast as Leighton Murray, one of the four leads in the HBO Max comedy series, The Sex Lives of College Girls, directed by Mindy Kaling. She, along with Pauline Chalamet, Amrit Kaur, and Alyah Chanelle Scott, appeared on the series in November 2020. They are set to star in the second season of the series.

During an interview, Renee Rapp told the host that Jazmine Sullivan and Yebba are her favorite musicians and she took inspiration from them.

Rapp is currently dating her fellow Broadway performer Antonio Cipriano who is best known for portraying Phoenix in the stage adaptation of Jagged Little Pill. He has also notably appeared in numerous television shows including God Friended Me and City on a Hill.

Rapp, who identifies as queer, started dating her boyfriend in June 2019, and ever since the couple is enjoying a romantic relationship and there is no sign of break up.
