Rozonda Thomas aka Chilli is a versatile American television personality who is best in all singing, acting and dancing. She became famous in the early 1990s when she was working as a member of the TLC group, which was the best-selling girl group of the late 20th century.

Thomas was previously in a relationship with Dallas Austin with who she got pregnant with a child but due to career aspirations, she aborted the baby.

Born to Bengali-Arab Father and African-American Mother

Rozonda Thomas was born on February 27, 1971, in Columbus, Georgia. Her father, Abdul Ali, is of Bengali-Arab descent while her mother, Ava Thomas, is of African-American descent. She has been raised by her mom while her sister Marni Ali Williams Thomas has been raised by her father.

At the age of 25, the air footage of her meeting her father was aired on the television talk show, Sally Jessy Raphael, in 1996.
 

Thomas completed her graduation from Benjamin Elijah Mays High School in 1989. During her childhood, her great-grandmother took her to the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Lost Her Voice, Unable to Sing

In early 1990s, Thomas became the first dancer of Damian Dame. In 1991, she became a co-founder of TLC, Crystal Jones. She was nicknamed Chilli by Lisa Lopes. The sold more than 65 million records worldwide, becoming the best-selling American girl group. She was awarded a Grammy for her work on TLC.

In late 2011, VH1 announced that they are going to make a biopic on TLC where Thomas and Tionne Watkins aka T-Boz, another member of TLC, will be the producers. Renowned actress Keke Palmer played the role of Thomas in CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story. The biopic was released in 2013.

In 2019, Thomas lost her voice and doctors told them not to sing. As Thomas lost her voice, TLC had to cancel her performance which was set to conduct at the California State Fair and the Stanislaus State Fair.

Thomas has since made numerous guest appearances on television shows such as That 70s ShowStrong Medicine, Single Ladies, The Parkers, and Living Single.

Pregnancy With Dallas Austin, Aborted The Child

Rozonda Thomas previously dated producer Dallas Austin with who she was pregnant with a child. However, due to career aspirations and outside pressures, she had to abort the baby. The 51-year-old later revealed that she regrets making a discussion about the abortion.

Later on June 2, 1997, Thomas and Austin welcomed a son, Tron Austin. The relationship between the two didn't last long and they called it quits shortly.

Split With Ex-Boyfriend Usher, Cited Cheating as the Reason

Following her split with Austin, Thomas began dating a new boyfriend, Usher, after she was featured in his music videos, U Got It Bad and U Remind Me.

After dating for two years, the two broke up in December 2003. As for the reason for their separation, during an interview on The Bert Show on February 17, 2004, Thomas said that Usher cheated on her with another woman However Usher denied that he has ever cheated on her.

Estimated Net Worth of $8 Million, TLC Bankruptcy

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Rozonda Thomas has an estimated net worth of $8 million. The former TLC star owns a massive house in Stone Mountain, Georgia, that she had bought for $67,000 in 1996.

Although TLC was a successful music group, the members were forced to declare bankruptcy. In 1995, they filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, declaring debts of $3.5 million.
