Snootie Wild was born as LePreston Porter on April 23, 1985, in Memphis, Tennessee. His stage name Snootie pays homage to his father. He has four siblings and they all are sisters.

Wild is of American nationality and black ethnicity. He grew up listening to renowned music artists like Three 6 Mafia, Yo Gotti and Project Pat. Snootie Wild was talented since his childhood. He completed high school in his hometown.

Snootie Wild was signed under Heartland Entertainment when he released his breakout single "Yayo". It was a big hit and inspired by the song, renowned musician Yo Gotti later remixed it. The remix was included in his thirteenth mixtape Nov 19: The Mixtape in 2013. Another rapper T.I. again remixed "Yayo" which made the song more successful.

On February 3, 2014, the official version of the song, featuring Yo Gotti, was released through digital distribution. The song was listed ranked on 50 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and ranked on 40 on Billboard's Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop chart.

Wild released the mixtape Ain't No Stoppin on May 14, 2015, which included the big hit song Rich or Not. Later in August 2016, the musician was featured on rapper Master P's Believe that was included in his mixtape, The G Mixtape.

Snootie Wild was found dead in Houston on February 28, 2022. Officials said that he was shot in the neck and was killed. The reason behind the shooting is mentioned as Wild had an argument with a driver that turned into violence after the rapper accidentally backed his car into a ditch.

The initial report said that the 36-year-old  rapper was in critical condition after he was found shot in his SUV in a ditch. According to the authority, there was a 50/50 chance of survival but unfortunately, it was found that he was already dead.
