Thomas Brodie-Sangster aka Thomas Sangster is an English actor who has played notable roles in Sam in Love Actually, Simon in Nanny McPhee and Ferb in Phineas and Ferb. He has portrayed Jojen Reed in Game of Thrones (2013–2014) and Newt in the Maze Runner film series (2014–2018).

Thomas Brodie-Sangster was born on 16 May 1990 in Southwark, London. His father Mark Sangster, who is from Banchory, Scotland, is also an actor while his mother Tasha Bertram was a ballet dancer. He grew up with his sister Ava Sangster who has appeared in The Last Legion. 

Sangster plays bass and guitar, and he learned to play the guitar with his left hand when he was cast as the left-handed Paul McCartney in the 2009 feature film Nowhere Boy. He also had to learn to play drums for the 2003 film Love Actually.

Sangster completed his primary schooling at an elementary school in Virginia, the United States.

Thomas Brodie-Sangster made his film debut in a BBC television film, Station Jim. He then appeared in several television films such as Bobbie's Girl, The Miracle of the Cards and Stig of the Dump.

Sangster rose to fame after he played a major role of Sam in the 2003 theatrical film Love Actually. He was nominated for a Young Artist Award and a Golden Satellite Award for the film.

In 2013 Sangster was cast as Jojen Reed in the HBO drama series Game of Thrones. He appeared on the show until 2014, alongside Peter Dinklage, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Lena Headey and Emilia Clarke.
