He is most known for co-founding the Ghost Adventures Crew and hosting the Travel Channel's paranormal series Ghost Adventures.

When Zak had an encounter with a suicidal woman's spirit in his former apartment located at Trenton, Michigan, he became a believer in paranormal activities. He then turned his attention to paranormal inquiry.

Family

Zachary Alexander Bagans is his birth name. Today, he is known as Zak Bagans. He is the son of Jeanne K. and Nancy Knapp. Nancy, his mother, is an interior designer in the area where he grew up.

He also has a younger sister whose name is Meredith Bagans.

Zak has an American nationality and is of mixed ethnicity which includes, Italian, German, Irish, French-Canadian, Scottish, Chippewa, Native American. 

Bagans attended Glenbard West High School and then the Motion Picture Institute in Michigan after graduation.

Career

Zak began his paranormal investigations in the year 2004. He began production on the series Ghost Adventures with Nick Groff and Aaron Goodwin. 

The show followed Zak and his team as they investigated rumored haunted locations. The team stayed the night in the allegedly haunted nightclub Bobby Mackey's Music World in the first episode. Bagans claimed that while he was there, he received mysterious scratch marks on his back.

While the show was on the air, he was chastised by paranormal enthusiasts for his aggressive and confrontational persona when dealing with spirits.

 Zak defended his tactics by claiming that he only used violence against spirits who were harming living people. The show aired for 14 seasons, with the final season airing in May 2017.

Additionally, his work as a paranormal investigator influenced him to pursue a career as a writer. With Kelly Crigger, he co-wrote Dark World: Into the Shadows with the Lead Investigator of the Ghost Adventures Crew. On September 23, 2011, it debuted at number 18 on the New York Times Best Seller list. 

Moreover, he published Darkness Optional:The Holy Truth in the year 2013, I Am Haunted in 2014 and I Am Haunted:Living Life Through The Dead in the year 2015.

Relationships

Zak Bagans was in a relationship with Holly Madison but they broke up after two years of dating, according to TMZ. While the two had met years before, they didn't become romantically attached until Holly came to visit Zak's Haunted Museum in Las Vegas in the year 2019. 

The two who kept their relationship away from the public eye have also kept their breakup under wraps. The couple broke up in 2021 but they remain friendly.

Prior to his relationship with Holly, almost nothing is known about Zak's previous relationships, however, he was briefly linked to Christine Dolce who was considered as the Queen of My Space and was one of the first social media influencers. 

Later, Christine died of liver failure in February 2017 after struggling with substance abuse.
